Non-destructive quality assurance - production requirement.

Nowadays the level of the advanced countries industry development is characterized not only by output volume and production assortment, but also by its quality characteristics.

The quality assurance is one of the most important technological operations in production. Because of the modern technics complication and increase of the requirement to their reliability, the testing operations complexity sharply increases. The time of recoupment of the quality assurance non-destructive equipment is often in 5-10 times less than time of the process equipment recoupment.

The product quality is a product characteristics causing its ability to satisfy certain requirements according to its purpose. The high-quality object is characterized by a chemical compound constancy, micro- and macrostructures, material electric and magnetic characteristics, the constant geometrical size, advanced mechanical, anticorrosive and other properties.

The rational use of a complex of non-destructive quality methods allows to raise reliability and quality of production, prevents damages of complex units and gives huge economic advantages to manufacture. This helps to develop new complex manufacture and to introduce new progressive technological processes. The absolute non-destructive testing allows defining quality of materials or semi finished products, checking up production efficiency and enables to select a suitable product part for the further processing.

The regular non-destructive testing performance at various technological process stages and statistical processing of the testing results allow to define at what stages of process defects appear and to detect and eliminate flaw reasons.

Thus the essence of testing operations changes. The passive, only ready details quality fixing testing becomes an active method of updating of technological process. Especially the active role of the testing increases for manufacture automation.

Thus, the rational use of non-destructive testing methods makes them the effective means of technological process development.

The non-destructive testing operations are the integral and equal technological process part, intended to:

  • define the product quality;
  • define the product strength;
  • aim the best constructive and technological solution;
  • support corporate identity;
  • prevent accidents and raise safety;
  • lower manufacture cost.

The non-destructive testing is definition of materials and products characteristics without their destruction. The non-destructive testing is based on the usage of penetrating fields, radiations and substances to obtain information about materials and products quality.

The non-destructive testing is subdivided into following types: acoustic, magnetic, electric, eddy-current, radio wave, thermal, optical, radiating and penetrating substances.

The non-destructive testing, unlike the destructive one, provides verification of quality, reliability and safety of objects without their destruction, i.e. after the testing the product can be used on direct purpose and in many cases without its operation stop.

The testing objects can be welding seams, materials that are going to be used in manufacturing or ready products made from these materials while they are manufactured or used (for example, pipes when manufacturing in workshops, on the rolling mills, already assembled to oil and gas lines, water and steam lines or at repair stations when rejecting for replacement). During the manufacturing process the material is tested to detect pores, flaws, etc. and product is tested to detect thickness difference. When manufactured the material is tested in order to detect fatigue, corrosion, changes caused by aggressive chemical environments influence, welding seams, which flaws differ depending on welding type - fusion or pressure.

If you want to be sure that a train would not be derailed, a bridge or a building would not collapse and would stand even earthquake, the technical diagnostics and non-destructive testing will help you. The non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics will provide you quality, reliability and safety of railways, pipelines, bridges, planes, atomic power stations, boilers and the vessels under pressure, used in the chemical industry, objects of water and steam supply and filing stations.

The technical diagnostics is detection and analysis of the parameters characterizing the product (technical systems) state for the possible parameters deviations forecast and also development of methods and means of experimental products (systems) condition definition with the purpose of up-to-date prevention operation norms breaking.  The technical diagnostic methods are used for the rational organization of the products functionality testing processes, search of the faulty products elements in electrotechnical, aviation, autotractor and other industries.

The technical diagnostics allows to analyze technical parameters of constructions, mechanisms and machines when operating, to forecast their working capacity and reliability in normal and critical operating conditions that are caused by the natural phenomena, technical or organizational failures when designing, manufacturing and operating.

Increase of products reliability when operating, prevention of production spoilage when manufacturing objects and their elements, high reliability of correct objects functioning are provided by technical diagnostics.
