Gurvich Anatoly Konstantinovich (1925)

Gurvich A.K. is a doctor of technical sciences, the professor, corresponding member of the Academy of Transport of Russian Federation, the distinguished person in the field of transport of the Russian Federation, in non-destructive testing since 1953 y., the winner of SM of the USSR and the Russian Government.

 He is the researcher of SRI (Scientific Research Institute) of Bridges and Flaw Detection of Railway Ministry of Russia and the Petersburg State University of Communications (LIIZHTa). He also is the chief constructor of Railways Ministry of Russia in systems of non-destructive testing, the editor-in-chief of magazine "NDT world", vice-president of RONKTD (1996 – 1999y.) and the chairman of the St.-Petersburg RONKTD Detachment (since 1999 y.), the president of the first National attestation committee of the USSR (Russia) in non-destructive testing (1990 – 1997 y.).

He is the author of 15 monographies, 14 state standards and standards CMEA, 45 normative documents, 246 scientific works and 51 copyright certificates and patents. He has formulated and developed the basis of general theory of NDT, the principles of standardization of main parameters of ultrasonic flaw detection, objectification of the results of the ultrasonic testing with manual and automated scanning, the functional decisions of means of ultrasonic flaw detection of welded joints and rails. In LIIZHTe he has participated in creation system of modular preparation and refresher course for specialists of different levels of qualification in NDT (from doctor of technical sciences, candidates of technical sciences, engineers to workers), more than 20 years he has headed the chair "NDT methods and instruments", participated in development and manufacturing of more than 25 thousands of flaw detection instruments and devices of 19 types. The founder of the institution and honorable chairman of the Russian-German Curatorium of the "K. Rontgen - S.Sokolov " medal.
