Ermolov Igor Nikolaevich (1927)
Ermolov I.N. is a doctor of technical sciences, professor and distinguished person in science and techniques in Russia. He is outstanding scientist in such field as ultrasonic method of non-destructive testing, the chief researcher of the Central Scientific Research Institute of Technology Machine-building Institute (СSRTMACHI) since 1953 year. He worked out the course in ultrasonic flaw detection for educational institutes, was a consultant of NPC "Echo+".
He is an author of 16 monographs and 256 scientific works. This scientist deduced and experimentally confirmed formulas and monograms for amplitude calculation of echo signals from different type of reflectors in near, transitional and distant zones of ultrasonic transducer. He calculated on and experimentally confirmed formulas for structured noise level in these zones. He defined optimum conditions of testing by echomethods. He deduced and experimentally confirmed formulas for amplitude of reflection calculation from flaws of nearby ground surface taking into account angular effect.
He worked out the method of factor attenuation of longitudinal wave measure. He deduced formulas and constructed monograms for weakening the past signal by flaw in shady methods. He is a developer of automatical installations for testing pipe (IDC-3, IDC-8), resonance thickness gauge URT-6, transducer and methods of ultrasonic testing of butting welded joints of pipes with little thickness wall, as well as methods of testing of austenitic welded joints bolts atomic power stations and welded rotors. He is an author of methods of ultrasonic testing of welded joints(weld) of thermal power stations with quantitative rates of admissibility flaws based on three parameters measurable by ultrasonic sound, as well as unified method of ultrasonic testing of main metal of atomic power stations.
